The LSRA has announced the appointment of Niamh Muldoon as our new Chief Executive Officer. She will take up the role on 23 March 2026.
Niamh joins the LSRA from the Veterinary Council of Ireland, where she has served as Chief Executive Officer and Registrar since 2019. Before that, she held senior roles at the Medical Council and began her career as a solicitor in private practice.
She succeeds Dr Brian Doherty, who departed the LSRA in September 2025 to take up the post of Deputy Police Ombudsman in Fiosrú. Tony Watson, Head of the Complaints, Investigations and Resolutions Department, has served as Interim CEO since then.
Welcoming the appointment, Tom Boland, Chair of the LSRA, said:
“Niamh brings strong leadership and regulatory experience at an important point for the organisation. We look forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen standards, support consumers and ensure the effective regulation of legal services in the public interest.”
Commenting on her appointment, Niamh Muldoon said:
“The LSRA plays a vital role in supporting standards in legal services and enabling public confidence in the professions. I look forward to leading the organisation and working with the team and stakeholders to ensure that we continue to deliver trusted and effective regulation. Having been privileged to work across professional regulation, I value the importance of balancing high standards with clarity and fairness for both our respected legal professionals and the public.”
