Limited Liability Partnerships
Solicitors partnerships may apply to the LSRA for authorisation to operate as Limited Liability Partnerships or LLPs. On this page you can find out how to apply to us for authorisation to operate as an LLP and see the register of authorised LLPs.
About LLP status
Partnerships of solicitors registered with the Law Society of Ireland may apply to the LSRA for authorisation to operate as Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs).
All partners listed on the LSRA’s Register of Limited Liability Partnerships are provided with limited liability and their personal assets are protected from the negligence of other partners.
Partners may still be held liable for liabilities arising from their own acts of fraud, dishonesty, misconduct or criminality.

Important notice: Applicants for an authorisation to operate a ‘relevant business’ (i.e. currently, a partnership of solicitors registered with the Law Society of Ireland) as a Limited Liability Partnership (‘LLP’) are reminded of the provisions of the Statutory Declarations Act 1938, as amended, and, in particular, that it is a criminal offence for a declarant to make a declaration which is false or misleading in any material respect (section 6).
Also, due to the number of queries arising in relation to applications received, please note that:
- Applications with incomplete or incorrectly completed Statutory Declarations will be returned to the applicant.
- Applications which contain incomplete/incorrect details may be returned to the applicant.
Register of Authorised LLPs
The Register is a listing of businesses authorised to operate as Limited Liability Partnerships.
LLPs are required, under section 126(3) of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015, to inform the LSRA if a particular entered in the register is incorrect.
This can be done by emailing [email protected].
If an LLP wishes to alter its membership, please send an email to the address above requesting the prescribed Membership Alteration form.
Any LLP intending to cease operating as an LLP should contact the LSRA at the email address above requesting a Cessation Notification Form.
The Register as at 19 March 2024 can be found below.
