The Law Society of Ireland retains the power to issue practising certificates to solicitors as well as regulatory functions in relation to professional indemnity insurance requirements for practising solicitors.  The Law Society will continue to exercise its statutory functions in relation to other matters including the Solicitors Accounts Regulations, anti-money laundering and will continue to administer grants from the Compensation Fund for clients of solicitors who suffer loss due to the dishonesty of their solicitor.
